Lori Janssen returns to coach the Circle City 16 Nike Elite squad.
In 2013, while coaching 17 Purple, the team’s highlights included a President’s Day Classic championship, along with second-place finishes in two Central Zone tournaments.
This is Janssen’s second coaching stint with the Circle City Volleyball Club.
Janssen coached for 14 years for Circle City, from 1994-2007, and her tenure covered nearly every age group. Highlights included two national runner-up finishes, one as an assistant with the 17-1 squad in 2002 and the other as an assistant with 18-1s in 2006, and a third-place finish in 1997 as a head coach in the 18-Open Division of the Northeast Qualifier with the 18-2 squad, qualifying that group for nationals in the open division.
Janssen was selected to coach the Big Ten All-Star team that participated in the 2002 USA Volleyball Open Nationals in Dallas, Texas.
Janssen is a graduate of Indiana University, where she played volleyball and lettered in 1988, with a B.A. in journalism. She earned a Master of Science Degree in Education in the spring of 2008. She teaches English, journalism, and newspaper at Harrison, while also doing color commentary for Purdue volleyball radio broadcasts.
